Our Story

Christina & Jim Buschmann - Owners

About 14 years ago, Jim and I started to think more about increasing our mobility.  Since we both had been very physically active our entire lives, we began to suffer more from aches and pains.  Neither of us were ever flexible. We talked about doing yoga.  I had participated in all sorts of yoga and knew that it enhanced my flexibility.  FYI - I was one who could never do a back bend or splits like my sisters and friends would do when we were younger.  So you can only imagine the aches  I was beginning to have due to my inflexibility.  But I would experience dissatisfaction when after attending several yoga classes and starting to 'get' the postures, the instructor would change up the routine.  Jim on the other hand didn't like yoga because of the pain he would feel in his shoulders from certain postures.  Also, the transitioning from standing to floor again and again was difficult and frustrated him.  Once we started taking Hot Hatha classes, we loved that we would be doing the same postures in every class and once we transitioned to the floor we stayed there!  Not only did we increase our strength, flexibility and balance but we noticed our stress decreased, sleeping patterns were more restful and we felt refreshed!  And if that wasn't enough, the more training that we got the more we learned that our internal organs were being massaged and compressed and then fresh oxygenated blood was sent to help heal. This series of postures taught us how to achieve and maintain our optimal health.  And as we continue to practice several times a week, it's a wonderful experience to share with each other. Whether you are experiencing pain, illness, disease, injured, depressed, deconditioned or simply want to improve your physical and mental well being, Yoga Hot Spot provides a healing and friendly environment to do so.   Yoga Hot Spot was built in order to support and foster the sense of mindfulness and peace within you.

ABOUT LEAD INSTRUCTOR CHRISTINA

Striving to be healthy in mind, body and spirit has resonated through me for as long as I can remember.  Being able to help others of all ages and fitness abilities to achieve their fitness goals has been my passion. And what really caught my attention with Hatha Yoga, it was a self healing practice in which a person with any body type or fitness level could practice. That hit home with me. I strive to guide all who cross my path find a way to be happy and healthy through a self-healing practice.  I received my Masters in teaching physical education from Syracuse University and my BA from SUNY Brockport. I taught physical education and coached for 32 years before retiring in June 2016. I have been managing fitness centers, teaching fitness classes and training fitness instructors since 1980. I am a certified Yoga Alliance teacher and have been teaching yoga since 1985. I also have certifications with AFAA, Reebok Spin,  Floor Pilates, CPR/AED and First Aid. My mantra is PMA - Positive Mental Attitude.  I have been blessed in so many ways.  I look forward to sharing my PMA with you!

Great News!! Recently, Jim and Christina completed their 200 hour yoga training.  They are now both certified by Yoga Alliance to teach the 26&2 Hot Yoga Series.  Yahoo!!

Discover the tools and develop the habits you’ll need to help improve your daily patterns and ultimately, your life. Each class is based on the belief that mental and physical health are interrelated, and should be conditioned together. All of the classes at Yoga Hot Spot attempt to coordinate breathing and physical movement, improve focus and concentration, and help participants regain control of their body and mind.

Paying in advance online will: secure your spot; receive any updates about class; take care of any paperwork; allow you more time to get ready for class once you arrive and lie in savasana to acclimate to the heated room.

The packages for the 90 minute & 60 minute 26 & 2 hot yoga classes are exactly the same.  If you buy a package you can use it for booking a 90 or 60 minute class.  There are one, two and four month offerings.
